Girl Scouts, it’s time to make some music!
Looking for a fun and meaningful way for your troop to complete the Junior Musician badge? Winter Opera St. Louis invites Girl Scout troops to join us for an interactive music workshop where Scouts can listen, explore, create, and perform!
During this engaging workshop, Scouts will explore how music is made, discover music and musicians from around the world, learn about the role music plays in their everyday lives, and get an introduction to the exciting world of opera and classical music.
But this isn’t a sit-and-listen kind of workshop! Scouts will hear and explore different instruments, discover the cultures and traditions behind music from around the world, create their own musical instruments using craft materials, and then use their creations in a fun group performance. It’s a chance for Scouts to get creative, work together, and experience music in a whole new way.
Make It a Musical Adventure!
Whenever our schedule allows, troops can pair the workshop with a Winter Opera St. Louis dress rehearsal. Scouts will have the special opportunity to see professional singers and musicians preparing for a live operatic performance. If a dress rehearsal isn’t possible with your troop’s schedule, we can instead provide a fun guided opera listening experience, featuring musical excerpts and activities designed to help Scouts listen like musicians.
The workshop is structured around the major requirements of the Junior Musician badge, making it an easy and exciting way for your troop to work toward completing the badge while enjoying a unique experience together.

Workshops are available by appointment and can be scheduled around your troop’s availability. Dress rehearsal opportunities are subject to the Winter Opera St. Louis performance schedule.
