Winter Opera St. Louis is thrilled to announce a transformative gift from the Preston M. Green Charitable Foundation. This generous donation will secure a permanent headquarters for the company, solidifying a vital space for artistry and community engagement for years to come. While Winter Opera St. Louis’s operatic performances will continue to wow audiences at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center, the gift allows the company to establish a dedicated home for its daily operations.
The new facility is a spacious 13,000 square foot building in Creve Coeur that will house Winter Opera St. Louis’s operational needs, including offices, rehearsal space, costume, prop and set storage, an alterations and costume shop, and a dedicated community space for regional artists and musicians. The building will be named the “Preston M. Green Winter Opera St. Louis Arts Center.”
” I am incredibly proud that this stylish building is to be named the Preston M. Green Winter Opera St. Louis Arts Center. Preston’s grandson Stephen and I are pleased to support this edifice, a place to produce many outstanding operas that St. Louis will love, as Preston would have,” said Nancy Green, representative of the Preston M. Green Foundation.
Winter Opera St. Louis offers a variety of programs that benefit the artistic community, including low-cost costume rentals for schools and non-profits, and affordable office and rehearsal space for musicians, teachers, and other creatives. The new headquarters will allow the company to further expand these initiatives.
“This new space is a dream come true for Winter Opera St. Louis,” said Gina Galati, Founder & General Director. “Not only will it allow us to finally consolidate our operations under one roof, but it also creates a vibrant hub where St. Louis’s artistic community can connect, collaborate, and flourish.”
Minor renovations are currently underway to ensure ADA compliance and convert a few offices into a rehearsal space. Winter Opera St. Louis anticipates moving into the new headquarters in August 2024. An open house is planned for this fall to officially unveil the space to the public. Additionally, the company is developing a plan to recognize donors through permanent recognition within the facility.
Winter Opera St. Louis provides St. Louis with world-class operatic performances during the winter months. The company also champions local artists and strengthens the artistic community year-round.
